“Glass crowns, all ceramic crowns that is something thats new. We haven’t had that in the past. These crowns can be placed in the front teeth, and now they can even be placed in the back. Which is a lot different from what we used to have. We would have to use metal and gold crowns. These crowns are made by machines and can be hand casted. They have no metal in them, so no blue line that most people are opposed to. Just natural restoration to have in our mouths.”

Some patients will ask me “why doesn’t this look right?” I’ll visit with them that it is not uncommon for this to happen. In nature, like many things, teeth are symmetrical. Symmetry in tooth size, shape, and color is what gives us a pleasing smile. Nothing was done wrong in this picture expect for the use of dis-similar material to close the patients space between his front teeth. My recommendation to this patient was to use similar materials with one common color to give him a natural, pleasing smile.
